Applications in laboratory and testing

The universal testing device is available in a 19“-tabletop housing format with the dimensions 445 x 177 x 370 mm, and has been developed for requirements in laboratories and test environments. Thermocouples, RTDs, resistors and other sensors can be directly connected and measured. The universal testing device also measures AC/DC values.

The universal testing device is available in a range of versions. The versions differ only in the number of inputs and outputs. All versions are identical in respect of interface options, internal functions, galvanic isolation and data logger memory.

Universal inputs (8 channels)

For the universal inputs there are four 4-mm laboratory connectors for each channel. The inputs are wired as type Cu/Cu thermominiature connectors for the direct connection of thermocouples. The inputs have full galvanic isolation: to each other, to the interfaces and to the power supply. Due to their enhanced galvanic isolation, the inputs are also suitable for non-isolated temperature measurement using thermocouples.

Differential inputs (16 channels)

For the differential inputs there are four 4-mm laboratory connectors for each channel. The inputs are wired as type Cu/Cu thermominiature connectors for the direct connection of thermocouples. The inputs also have full galvanic isolation. Differential inputs are suitable for measuring from thermocouples, mA-signals and DC-volt signals.

Analog outputs (4 channels)

For the analog outputs, each channel is assigned 2 clamps or plugs. Each channel can be used for 0/4 ... 20 mA signals.

Digital outputs/switch outputs (16 channels)

For the digital / switch outputs, each channel is assigned 2 rear clamps. The standard set up for switch outputs is as passive DC contacts with currents of up to 50 VDC and a permitted continuous current of 2.5 A. The following options are available:

  • Eight relay switch outputs, as alternatives to the standard switch outputs, for direct switching to 230 VAC equipment
  • Eight 24 VDC outputs, as alternatives to the standard switch outputs, for operating relays and contactors

Digital inputs/status inputs/frequency inputs (12 channels)

For the digital inputs, each channel is assigned 2 rear clamps. The standard set ups for digital inputs are as passive inputs with high-levels of between 3.5 V ... 90 VDC. 11 channels are usable as impulse counters and frequency inputs for up to 35 kHz. The following options are available:
six 24 VDC contact inputs with a wired auxiliary supply of 24 V, for direct acquisition of contacts.

AC/DC current/voltage/power measurements

A 3-phase power measuring unit, with a serial port, is installed to measure AC-/DC current/voltage power values for the continuous measuring of average current, voltage, power and consumed energy.

  • Voltage: 500 Volt (conductor to conductor)
  • Voltage: 290 Volt (phase to zero conductor)
  • Current: 1/5 Ampere

All electrical values are available in virtual channels within the universal testing device. Further processing and storage of electrical measurement data can then be performed as for conventional channels. The electrical data can also be displayed directly to a monitor. The following options are also available: three current transformers for the already mentioned measurement transducers, 20/1 ampere, class 0.2, for measuring current and power up to 20 A.

Resistance measurement

Resistance measurement of up to 10 kOhm is possible as standard. Connection at the universal inputs using 4-wire technology. The following options are also available: resistance measurement with an ampere for the smallest resistances, e.g. contact resistances.
