The new Delphin Data Center – High performance connectivity
The Delphin Data Center has been significantly expanded by Delphin Technology AG. The software system for measurement data acquisition and centralised measurement data management has undergone numerous upgrades and optimisations and now also supports new business models such as "condition monitoring as a service".
The Delphin Data Center is being used for the worldwide metrological connection of plants, machines and test stands, independent of age, location or the interfaces of highly diverse data sources. From a single supplier, the software performs all the tasks of centralised measurement data management ranging from distributed and source-independent data acquisition, loss-free data compression, encryption and storage through to instant worldwide access to real-time and historical measurement data.
Data storage in binary measurement databases is now much more powerful. The new 64-bit architecture means the Delphin Data Center can now process up to 100 million measurements per second.
In addition to the already established interfaces of OPC DA, Modbus TCP, ASCII-DLL, SQL and API, the Delphin Data Center now also includes an OPC UA client interface to significantly simplify communications with all company levels and to the cloud.
The Delphin Data Center is available not only for Windows but also for Linux systems enabling any set-up to be realised, e.g. the central data server as a NAS drive.
A special feature of the new Delphin Data Center is that it enables machine or plant manufacturers to expand their business model by providing customers access to operational and status data of the assets they have purchased. The new "user-selective access rights" function ensures that clients only get access to the assets that belong to them. SSL encrypted transmission ensures constant data security and integrity.
Individual and flexible – Measurement cases for mobile measurement
Delphin Technology AG is significantly expanding its range of measurement cases due to their great success. Measurement cases in cost-effective standard configuration are now available in addition to customised solutions from the 5-step system. Standard configured models are based on years of expertise and customer requests and have been developed for frequently occurring measurement requirements especially in the following: fault value recording, condition monitoring, energy data acquisition, multi-channel precision temperature measurement, vibration analysis, acceptance measurements, quality assurance, service and commissioning.
Measurement cases use precision measurement technology according to user requirements. Such technology might be the compact data loggers from the Loggito series, highly modular measurement technology from the Message series, the interface wonders of the Expert series, complex vibration measurement technology with Expert Vibro, or a combination of different systems.
Acquired measurement data is stored fail-safe in the measuring case and can be read out and analysed either when mobile or at a PC workstation. Any other components required for the application are also installed in the measurement cases, e.g. transducers, transmitters and other measurement components.
The sensors, actuators and signals are connected via detachable connectors that are integrated into the front panel. The connection type can be selected according to requirements (laboratory jacks, screw terminals, thermominiature jacks, etc.). This ensures maximum flexibility and avoids a clutter of cables.

The ProfiSignal DataService is a centralized database, suitable for transient and slow measurement data, and enables online computations and statistical functions to be directly performed at a server level. Averaging and edge counting run as fully automated and reliable background services. The DataService can now function as server to enable remote data transfer via UMTS technology. A ModBus TCP interface has been implemented for recording from sensors or actuators via a LAN connection.
The ProfiSignal Klicks programming language has been upgraded with a data flow command that further simplifies applications development. For the processing of high speed signals, version 3.1 is equipped with an oscilloscope diagram that can be tailored to the needs of any application. The new file factory is used to combine measurement data files so that analysis can be performed within a single system.
ProfiSignal now enables the internal data memories from Message devices to be automatically synchronized to PC recording thereby significantly enhancing data security.
