Luminaire Testing Device
Fully automated heat and electrical testing of luminaire corresponding to EN 60598
The luminaire testing device enables the fully automated testing of luminaires compliant with the EN 60598 standard.
The device measures a compact 500x500x300mm (wxhxd).
The upper part of the device contains the electrical supply switch as well as switches for the test voltages to be used.
Test voltages are 90%, 100%, 106% and 110% of Nominal Voltage (UNom).
Below this are 16 thermocouple inputs for connecting temperature probes.
In the lower part of the device are the electrical connectors for the testing samples.
Testing can be performed on light-bulb luminaires, luminaires with ballasts and transformers.
The device is equipped with high performance measuring technology which can measure currents from very low mAs and up to 20A.
The device also includes a resistance measuring capability of up to 10 kOhm.
A RTD temperature probe is supplied for standardization of all temperatures.
A normal PC with networking capability is used for operation functions. A Windows based PC software is included in delivery.
Easy installation - testing can begin immediately.

Testing procedure
The user friendly software for the luminaire testing device runs on standard PC under Windows operating systems. It enables the input of all relevant test parameters. The overall testing procedure can be broken down into test stages which run automatically.
Each test stage can be stopped at any time. At the end of the testing procedure a test report can be produced automatically. The following test stages show that the testing procedure complies to EN 60598:
- Input of parameter for the test sample and test conditions
- Testing following lighting up
- Testing of normal operation at 90% , 100% , 106% , 110% of nominal voltage
- Testing in abnormal operation at 110% of nominal voltage and with short circuit
- Temperature test for luminaires with temperature-switch / temperature-fuse
- Half-wave operation
- Output of test results
