OPC-Server

The OPC server permits access from OEM software such as NI LabView, Intellution Fix, Siemens WinCC, Wonderware Intouch as well as any other software which supports the OPC standard. The OPC-Server provides a standardized interface for the client software. Client software can then use this interface to access any channel within the Message devices, whether operating in a network or as a stand alone system. The OPC interface uses "Data Access" (versions 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0) to communicate with the client software. The OPC server also supports the function "BrowseServerAddressSpace" to simplify selection of the required measurement channels. The OPC server can either be installed on a local PC or on a network server within a network.
The OPC server requires a connection via TCP/IP to the message devices and provides the OPC client with the channels of the Message devices.

System requirements:

Windows 2000 / XP with TCP/IP installed

Applications:

OEM software which uses "Data access" (versions 1, 2 or 3) for communication with the OPC interface can access the OPC server either locally or via a network.
The server permits client software to have read only access to current measurement values within the bus manager channels and write access to digital/analog outputs and markers (e.g. set values for regulators).

Speed/restrictions:

The OPC server's internal updating speed is approximately 250 milliseconds.
Dependency on bus manager(s) cycle times and data transmission delays from Message devices (particularly when linked serially) means that the total measurement data delay time is > 1 second.
